I Woke up this morning emotionally exhausted as I was up all night talking to God asking what happen to democracy? This was the most outrageous debate I have witnessed in my life. With one leader trying to maintain some sort of decorum in the other leader unhinged. I was struck by the gravity of overt racism. And as a woman of color and for people of color I am concerned.

John Lewis,  Fannie Lou Hamer and other activists risk their lives for Black people to vote. Often voting was very violent and very scary for these precious folks who would be too scared to go and vote.  Will that be the same scenario again? Are we going back to those days? Are those days here where the leaders need to call upon “poll watchers“ to stand around hovering over people who have a constitutional right vote privately? It truly is a disgrace.

Who are these so-called “poll watchers“? Will they have guns? I mean really what is going on makes me sick to my stomach. When I hear the leader of the free world saying to the white supremacists “stand back and stand by“  it sent chills. I am so hurt and so angry and so over racism and racist leaders. I was a little girl during the era of J Edgar Hoover and George Wallace who were extreme racists in my lifetime. As a little girl was terrified and afraid of their very name!!! Can you imagine that? I said to myself, I hope I never meet them. Imagine a little girl being afraid of a name! And when I was a little girl I would pray and hope that things would get better.  I’m sure if you would ask some Black people who were born during that era how did they feel as children growing up in segregation and racism society I’m sure you’ll learn some unforgettable history of the psychological impact it cost on Black people.

And as an older woman, it feels in reverse. What breaks my heart the most, I mean really breaks my heart the mos,t and I am so sorry to say it but I must is the lack of sensitivity for justice coming from some of the Christian communities. I know that I am not going to be popular now but I’m just so stunned and so confused by this behavior. I had a talk with God in the early hours of the morning. Praying and believing for people who feel the way I do around the world that we can join together in prayer for democracy.

A new improved healthy strong and powerful loving community of all people. A democracy where people of color and indigenous people don’t have to be afraid to vote and don’t have to be afraid for being who they are. I’m praying for a new and improved democracy with liberty and justice for all. So I’m asking my brothers and sisters in Christ and Christian communities everywhere to please please please pray for the safety of Black people and people of color and indigenous first nation people.

I will be writing much much more as well as putting up an audio blog called “honoring the point“. I already know for some Christians you may find this offensive coming from me and I am prepared for the backlash.  Jesus went through the same kind of trouble when he flipped the script on religious society, speaking up for people and standing for people who were known, sinners. He pushed past racial and gender barriers and spoke to women and people of different ethnicity. He was a model of justice, love and honoring folk who were broken and hurt and did not have a voice in that society especially women! Therefore, I am standing on Matthew chapter 5. I have a mandate and a call to speak out and speak up for liberty and justice for ALL
